As the resident nurse here at the Kush Nurse, Sandra Guynes shares her personal journey of cannabis that it is not just medicine, it is so much more.

Cannabis can help you with that quiet your mind and the constant need to focus on to do’s and instead focus on priorities. This can prove to be a much more productive and less stressful approach to getting things done.

Cannabis can also help with more a body high if you need to settle in and feel more relaxed. While many people seek cannabis for symptom management; it can also help with creating work/life balance. Specific strains can help to with focus, motivation, endurance and yes relaxation.

Do you struggle with falling asleep or staying asleep?

Sleep is essential for maintaining our mental and physical health, yet it eludes many adults. Insomnia , wakefulness and exhaustion is a very common problem, one that takes a toll on your energy, mood, and ability to function during the day.

The first thing we address during consults is SLEEP! Even if that’s not the primary concern for the visit. Some cannabis strains can help with relaxation and even sedating effects which helps us to get a better night’s sleep.

Cannabis has analgesic properties that may provide some relief for those with chronic pain, while the anti-anxiety properties can soothe a stressed out mind and body.

Sleep is one of the biggest challenges among my clients. Methods of cannabis consumption also matter.

With oral/edible products:
To get to sleep take 1-2 hours before bedtime.

To stay asleep take right at bedtime.

Inhalation may help you get to sleep but the duration of inhaled cannabis is 2-4 hrs with such a short window of effect, inhalation may not support a full night’s sleep.
